i WILL be a blogger.

I spend a good chunk of time each day blog hopping and feeling inspired by recipes and scrapbook layouts and even book reviews. So, over the years I've even dabbled in blogging, but nothing has ever come out of it. Do you see me last entry? Practically a year ago! It's almost Summer (2 weeks left of school!) and Military Man is away, so now is a better time then ever to write.

Let's start with my own lovely book review. I finally finished Christopher Moore's latest vampire satire, "BITE ME"

That cover hasn't already won you over? Well, this is the third book in the trilogy and as expected, it's absolutely hilarious. Basically, it's a love affair between an undead, sexy twenty something and her undead writer boy. Throw in a melodramatic, gothic teenage girl, her nerdy older boyfriend, a homeless man and his two dogs, and some cops and you have one crazy story. Moore really succeeded in characterizing his goth teen, even devoting several chapters to her own thought process. If you're looking for a quirky book about vampires, but not totally PG and silly (c'mon- vampires in high school?!), then I highly recommend this series. I found the books to be quick, light and laughable. Start with Bloodsucking Fiends, You Suck and then Bite Me.

busy days and butterflies

I’m not sure how it happened if I scrubbed down my apartment last week, worked several full days and even left town for the weekend, but somehow there was a huge list of chores waiting for me when I woke up this morning. I did get to a great start and knocked off over half the things before 11, but then I slowed down. Some channel was having an all day Law&Order: SVU marathon and the couch just looked more and more appealing. By 4 I remembered that my mom was going to be here within an hour and I wasn't ready and the dishes weren’t done (as well as many other things). Oh well. To my surprise my mom didn't come by alone, she brought my grandma with her. We went out for sub-par Italian but then stopped by The Gap for what we thought would be a simple exchange. Ha, the three of us in The Gap is never a quick ordeal- I remembered I needed a bathing suit and this one cardigan was just too cute to pass up, and then there was the perfect grey tunic, yadda yadda... Basically, many pictures to come tomorrow or the following day.

To keep you interested, I will post something that doesn’t require you to read. I whipped up a layout the other day using this butterfly paper (I think it’s Jenni Bowlin) that is too cute for words and then some other papers that I’ve been loving.
